Hazaaron Khwahishen Aiseen....

The other day , I was going through the ‘Speaking Tree’ column in the Times of India. It had an article about Human life and how it is governed by desires . I started pondering over the topic and found it actually very much true. Often , in the journey of our life we are directed in pursuits and goals which we want to achieve. But sometimes we get lost or wayward. Our needs ,wants and desires often get influenced and affected by peer-pressure.As we live in a society , we need to follow certain trends of the society or the social circle we belong to.Although our personal ideologies may differ from the lot, somewhere , sometime we do succumb to what is going on around us , in our social circle. For eg : we might like to study Literature and Fine Arts but BTech and MBA may be the trend , we might like to work in a small Organization that gives us liberty to work in our own style , but working in a top notch MNC may be the trend.Similary , we might not need a second car or a second apartment , but that might again be the latest trend. We sometimes get so much tangled in these desires that we forget the real pursuit of life . We miss the small moments that can give us immense pleasure , we forget the real meaning of life. We feel that shopping or eating out in a trendy mall may give us a high , but a barefooted morning walk in our dew laden little garden may give us a better high.
I read somewhere the following lines…

Desires are endless is. When one is fulfilled another crops up. If you cut off one or two desires, others come up because the root is still there
The mind needs to be controlled, otherwise it goes haywire and keeps dreaming. Desires come from within, even if a person is looking idle or is. Desire is a hidden enemy which tosses the mind and opposes our spiritual progress. ‘Aavran’ is to be unconscious of one's own Self, to forget one's real goal in life. This is ‘ajnana’ or ignorance We get lustful, greedy and angry because we are ignorant of our real Self.
